Kossoguchi nē Kogata-muzu (February 4, 1801 – January 23, 1855), nicknamed the Emperor on the Sea, was a pirate of Iwwai origin who operated along the X sea. His expansionist policies in regards to maritime control led to an arms race with government coalitions against piracy. At its height in 1844, Kossoguchi's fleet, the Broken-Spear Fleet, numbered around 700 ships, rivalling many navies of its time. He was presumed dead when the Broken-Spear Fleet was ultimately destroyed at the Battle of Mhyechi Island in 1855.
