Kossoguchi nē Kogata-muzu (February 4, 1801 – January 23, 1855), nicknamed the Emperor on the Sea, was a pirate of Iwwai origin who operated along the X sea. His expansionist policies in regards to maritime control led to an arms race with government coalitions against piracy. At its height in 1844, Kossoguchi's fleet numbered around 700 ships, rivalling many navies of its time.
