The House of Aêsimsin, known before 1950 as the House of Chi, is the royal house of Rongyo.

Name

The name Aêsimsin, unlike popular belief, does not mean 'of the city of Aêsim', but instead from the native root 'star, fire', and sim 'light, torch, fire', referencing a Rongyoissan founding myth. The change from the House of Chi was a deliberate political decision, as Chi was a Quonco-Ru surname. The royal house, under recommendation from the post-war civilian government, changed their surname to Aêsimsin, which fits as a native indigenous Ru surname.
