Jikhein (Standard Kwang: /d͡ʒì.kʰeɪ̃́/, formerly known as Rìkheim), official the Jikhein Metropolis, is the capital city of Qonklaks, located in southeastern Jikhein Province, on the Ji River Delta. A population of 22.5 million people, the city boundaries cross into neighbouring Hàzai Province, covering the special cities of Pathain, Chazein, and Balein. The Greater Jikhein Metropolitan Area (GJMA), which includes Jikhein Metropolis itself, and 13 other cities upriver, with a total population of 52.8 million, the largest metropolitan area in the world.
Architecture
Jikhein, like many Qonklese cities that experienced the national-wide economic boom in the 80s, is a mosaic of traditional Qonklese architecture, brutalist architecture of the late 60s and 70s, and towering glass skyscrapers.
Megabuilding Project
The Megabuilding Project was a program adopted in 1973, in anticipation for the influx of migrant workers flocking to the city for work. A total of nine concrete residental megastructures were constructed, but failed to achieve its goals as housing was and still remains expensive and hard to come by. Additionally,
