			As the former [[Celestial Empire]] began to devolve into warlordism in 1903, Chànba was under the rule of the Kwang governor and warlord X. Known for his brutality and suppression of the various ethnic minorities of Southwestern Qonklaks, the peoples of the X valley quickly rebelled and began to wage guerrilla wars against their former Kwang overlords. X, who was unable to secure support from anyone, quickly surrendered the region as the various rebelling ethnic groups established breakaway republics. These were considered rogue states by Qonklaks and members of the international community, and remained mostly impoverished. This period, known as the “Hundred Colors” in Chànba, was marked by poverty, petty wars between ethnic groups, and instability. In the 1920s, these groups would be easily crushed by the [[Hài Clique]] in their unification of Qonklaks into the [[Qonklese Empire]].
